Skanska builds new premises in Huddinge at Karolinska University Hospital for about SEK 1.2 billion

Skanska has signed a contract with Locum for a new hospital building at the Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge, Sweden. The contract is worth SEK 1.2 billion, which will be included in order bookings for Skanska Sweden for the third quarter in 2016.

The project's gross floor area is about 29,000 square meters and the building will house about 23 operating rooms and sterilization center, about 8 rooms for interventional services, about 21 rooms for X-ray examinations and related support areas.

Skanska, Locum and the Stockholm County Council has ambitious climate targets for the building, for resource efficiency and the health promotion. The building will be certified according to Green Building Gold.

Construction began in June 2016 and is expected to be completed 2019.

Skanska is one of the largest project development and construction companies in Sweden, with operations in building and civil engineering as well as in residential and commercial development. The unit has about 10 000 employees. Revenues from construction amounted to SEK 27 billion in Sweden in 2015. Residential development sold about 2 200 new homes. Skanska also offers services in public-private partnerships.
