Skanska invests SEK 340M in office building in Uppsala, Sweden

Skanska invests SEK 340M in the office building Juvelen in Uppsala, Sweden. The construction contract has been awarded Skanska Sweden. The investment will be booked by Skanska Commercial Property Development in the fourth quarter 2016.

The office building of seven floors near Uppsala station is developed by Skanska in cooperation with Utopia architects and comprises a total of 11,550 square meters. In addition to the office space, the ground floor will include a restaurant and commercial premises.

The building will reach the highest level, Platinum, in the LEED certification system (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design). It is equipped with Skanska's patented method for self-sufficiency of cooling, Deep Green Cooling. Electricity is supplied largely by the integrated solar cells.

Construction will start immediately and the intention is that the office building will be completed by the end of 2018.

Skanska is one of the largest project development and construction companies in Sweden, with operations in building and civil engineering as well as in residential and commercial development. The unit has about 10 000 employees. Revenues from construction amounted to SEK 27 billion in Sweden in 2015. Residential development sold about 2 200 new homes. Skanska also offers services in public-private partnerships.
