Skanska builds Sundsta-Älvkulle Upper Secondary School in Karlstad, Sweden, for about SEK 410M
Skanska has signed a contract with Karlstad municipality regarding the rebuild and extension of Sundsta-Älvkulle Upper Secondary School in Karlstad, Sweden. The contract is worth about SEK 410M, which will be included in the Nordic order bookings for the second quarter of 2017.
The project involves demolition to accommodate three new buildings, with three to four floors, which connect to the remaining existing buildings. In total, the new construction comprises about 21,300 square meters.
The intention is that the rebuilt and newly constructed buildings will be certified according to Miljöbyggnad Silver. The environmental classification system Miljöbyggnad is administered by the Swedish Green Building Council and certifies new and existing buildings focusing on energy, indoor environment and materials.
The project includes cooperation with Arbetsförmedlingen to offer traineeships to people with difficulty entering the labor market.
Construction commences in August 2017 and the project is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2021.
