Skanska rebuilds school in Stockholm, Sweden, for about SEK 430 M
Skanska has signed a contract with Sisab Skolfastigheter i Stockholm AB regarding the redevelopment and expansion of Rödabergsskolan in Stockholm, Sweden. The contract is worth about SEK 430 million, of which about SEK 370 M will be included in the order bookings for Sweden for the fourth quarter 2019. The remaining part of the contract was booked in the previous quarter.
The project includes the demolition of an existing school building, the construction of a new school building with a sports hall and also the reconstruction of the part of the school that is maintained. This is a total of new construction corresponding to about 9,000 square meters of gross area and 6,400 square meters of redevelopment. After redevelopment, Rödabergsskolan will be able to receive approximately 1,040 pupils, compared with today's capacity of 640 pupils.
Preparatory work for the new construction is already underway and the new building is expected to be completed in the summer of 2021. Thereafter, the renovation work of the existing school building will begin. This work is expected to be completed by the summer of 2022.
