Skanska lands contract to build hospital in U.S. for SEK 227 million
Skanska's U.S. subsidiary Fowler Jones Beers Construction has received an order for a project valued at SEK 227 million (USD 28.8 M).
The customer is the Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, North Carolina.
The project involves a major addition to the Gaston Memorial Hospital covering about 20,000 square meters. The new addition, which includes several laboratories and operating rooms, connects to the existing structure on four levels. In addition, about 5,000 square meters of renovation work will be carried out on four floors of the hospital.
Construction will begin immediately with completion scheduled for July 2000.
Fowler Jones Beers is part of Skanska's Atlanta-based Beers Construction subsidiary which during the past six years has constructed hospitals and healthcare facilities for more than USD 1 billion, slightly more than SEK 8 billion.
With annual sales in the U.S. of SEK 18 billion, Skanska USA is the fifth largest company in the domestic construction market in the U.S.
