Skanska has been commissioned to construct a power plant fired by oil and gas in the Copenhagen region on Sjaelland, the largest island in Denmark. The order amounts to DKK 165 M (approximately SEK 200 M).
Skanska's subsidiaries, Skanska Stålteknik and Skanska Jensen, will be responsible for Unit 2 at the Avedöre plant. The customer is Sjaellandske Kraftverker and Vattenfall.
The project consists of a 9,300 m2 building containing a generating plant and storage facilities, and a central boiler unit 90 meters high. The building will have a 7,500-ton steel frame with a steel and concrete floor structure.
Construction will commence at year-end, and the project is due to be completed in late 1999.
Two additional Skanska companies are involved in the project. Göinge Mekaniska AB will be supplying the inside sheet-metal work and Ralling AB will be responsible for crane assembly.
Skanska Jensen has previously constructed Unit 1 of the Avedöre plant, located in the southwest sector of the Greater Copenhagen area. Skanska Jensen and Skanska Stålteknik are currently constructing a desulfurizing plant at the Stignæs plant on West Sjælland.
