Skanska constructs prison in Aberdeen, UK, for GBP 57 M, about SEK 590 M

Skanska signs contract with the Scottish Prison Service worth GBP 57 M, about SEK 590 M, which will be included in order bookings for the fourth quarter. Skanska will design and construct the new prison HMP Grampian in Aberdeen, UK, for male and female prisoners. The new facility will include the full range of prison buildings.

Enabling works have begun with main construction scheduled to begin in early 2012 and completion is set for summer 2013.

Skanska UK reported revenues of approximately SEK 14 billion in 2010, with about 4,500 employees. The company is active in building and civil construction, utilities and building services. In the UK, Skanska is also a leader in Public Private Partnerships, PPPs, also known as Privately Financed Initiatives, PFIs. Skanska has also initiated the development of homes for the UK market.
