Skanska plans new housing for SEK 400 M

Skanska is developing a new project with 300 residential units in Upplands Väsby, 30 km north of Stockholm. An area comprising about 11 hectares of land with existing buildings is being acquired from Vasakronan for SEK 45.5 million.

A new, attractive housing area with a park character is being created in Carlslund. The area has access to a swimming hall, fitness center, child-care facilities and local services housed in the existing buildings. SEK 400 million is being invested in the project, which will provide employment for about 100 persons for three years.

Project development in which Skanska is the driving force in the chain from idea, through implementation, sale and management is part of Skanska's strategy.

- Our business concept is to develop modern, functional and attractive housing from initial idea to the finished apartment ready for occupancy, says Nils Haqvinsson, Business Development Manager in the Division Residential Construction, Skanska Sweden.

The center for asylum-seeking refugees currently being operated at Carlslund for the Swedish Immigration Board will be closed in 2001.
