Steve Sams appointed new President for Skanska Infrastructure Development
Steve Sams has been appointed new President for Skanska Infrastructure Development (Skanska ID), the business unit within Skanska that are investing in and developing infrastructure projects through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP).
On April 1, Steve Sams will succeed the current President Anders Årling. Steve Sams has been Executive Vice President in Skanska ID since 2006, of which the last year as Head of Europe. Before joining Skanska, he has extensive experience in other leading positions within the PPP sector. He will be dividing his time between Skanska ID’s offices around the world.
“Our strategic focus on PPP, Public-Private Partnerships, remains firm. We see great opportunities for future expansion within PPP and we notice an increasing interest in several markets. Steve has the right background and experience to further develop this business,” says Johan Karlström, Skanska’s President and CEO.
After 13 years in Skanska, Anders Årling has decided to seek new opportunities outside Skanska. He has held several different leading positions such as President of Skanska Financial Services for six years, and spent the past three years as President of Skanska Infrastructure Development.
“Anders has had a vital role in developing Skanska’s financial operations into a modern service that provides strong support for businesses. During his time, PPP operations have developed considerably well, and that has created substantial value for Skanska. We wish him success with the new challenges he is now taking on,” says Johan Karlström.
Skanska Infrastructure Development is a leader in the global Public Private Partnerships (PPP) market. The business unit invests in, develops and operates roads, hospitals, schools, power plants and other social infrastructure in partnership with the public sector.
