SKANSKA TO BUILD AMUSEMENT PARK IN USA

Skanska’s American subsidiary, Sordoni Skanska, has been selected by the Six Flags amusement park chain to act as contract manager for the construction of a large new family-friendly nature and amusement park in the state of Connecticut. The total value of the park building project is approximately USD 250 million.

Among the reasons given for its selection of Sordoni Skanska as contract manager, Six Flags, which owns a dozen theme parks in the U.S., noted the Skanska company’s technical expertise and its experience of projects where existing natural resources are taken into account.

The new park will be built around four main themes: the future, adventure, education and discovery. Visitors will be led on a simulated crossing of the Mississippi to the Wild West, a deep sea adventure, an expedition to explore some antique ruins and through a fantastic vision of the future.

Sordoni Skanska, which has its head office in New Jersey, provides customized solutions to customers in the retail, pharmaceuticals, health and medical care and educational sectors. The company, which noted its best year to date in 1996, anticipates that 1997 will be at least as successful with estimated revenues of more than USD 520 million.
