Skanska approved to acquire Swedish Gatu och Väg
The Swedish Competition Authority has now granted approval to Skanska to take over Gatu och Väg (the Streets and Road unit) from the Geveko Group according to the agreement which was signed late March this year. The acquisition will be effected on September 17 and in the discussions with the Competition Authority Skanska has undertaken to divest three asphalt plants in western Sweden.

The Swedish Competition Authority has now granted approval to Skanska to take over Gatu och Väg (the Streets and Road unit) from the Geveko Group according to the agreement which was signed late March this year. The acquisition will be effected on September 17 and in the discussions with the Competition Authority Skanska has undertaken to divest three asphalt plants in western Sweden.
The operations of Gatu och Väg will now be coordinated with Skanska Road Construction and Skanska Asphalt and Concrete.
The operations of Gatu och Väg includes contracting, asphalt plants and crushing plants. Gatu och Väg reported sales of USD 60 M in 1996, with about 360 employees.
All surfacing and plant operations as well as quarries, crushers and machinery are included in the takeover.
