SKANSKA TO BUILD PLANT FOR ASSIDOMÄN IN CZECH REPUBLIC
Skanska has secured a new order in the Czech Republic. The order, which involves new construction and is valued at approximately USD 9.5 million, relates to a plant for the production of packaging material in Zebrack, 40 km southeast of Prague.
The customer is AssiDomän, one of Sweden’s largest forestry and paper companies, which is investing in a plant with a building area of 23,000 square meters. Construction work will commence immediately and is expected to be completed within one year.
AssiDomän’s decision to invest in a plant in the Czech Republic was made in the light of the increased use of packaging in Central Europe and the company’s desire to establish production operations closer to its customers in the region. By establishing operations in the Czech Republic, delivery times and costs to customers will be reduced, which will increase AssiDomän’s competitiveness in both the Czech Republic and neighboring countries.
With this new order, Skanska now has work in progress in Central Europe totaling USD 87 million. In addition to the construction of the AssiDomän plant, Skanska is currently building a new airport terminal in Budapest, Hungary, and a new stage in the ongoing Atrium project in Warsaw, Poland.
