Skanska awarded construction contract for shopping center in Helsinki, Finland, for SEK 500 M

Skanska has been awarded the construction contract for the third phase of Kannelmäki Shopping Center in Helsinki, Finland. The contract value is EUR 55 M, about SEK 500 M, which will be included in order bookings for the third quarter. Customer is Helsinki Cooperative Society Elanto (HOK-Elanto).

Kannelmäki Shopping Center, which will become one of the largest shopping centers in Finland, will have a floor space of 101 000 square meters. The third phase of the project comprises 45 000 square meters. Work begins in August and is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2013. Skanska have also been responsible for the earlier phases of the project.

Skanska Finland is one of the leading construction companies in Finland and Estonia. The company is active in building construction, residential and commercial premises, as well as civil engineering projects. The combined sales for Skanska’s Finnish and Estonian operations in 2010 were SEK 6.9 billion and the company employed about 2 800 people. In Finland, Skanska is also active within development of residential, office and PPP projects.
