Skanska to build the Nordic region's largest hotel in Gothenburg for SEK 311 million
Skanska has, in a joint venture project with the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Center, received the assignment to construct a new hotel adjoining the existing Hotel Gothia in Gothenburg. Following negotiations, the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Center Foundation and Skanska have agreed on an incentive contract with a maximum price of SEK 311 million.

Skanska has, in a joint venture project with the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Center, received the assignment to construct a new hotel adjoining the existing Hotel Gothia in Gothenburg. Following negotiations, the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Center Foundation and Skanska have agreed on an incentive contract with a maximum price of SEK 311 million.
The new hotel will have 23 floors and space for 418 rooms. The hotels, with a total of 710 rooms, will be connected via a joint reception building on two floors. The new building will also house conference facilities and a restaurant which will be located on the top floor of the 70-meter high hotel.
The project comprises 23,400 sq. m. of new construction and 2,200 sq. m. of reconstruction work, in addition to approximately 80 parking spaces in a garage. This will be one of Gothenburg's largest construction projects, in the same league as the office project being carried out on behalf of Ericsson Hewlett-Packard Telecommunications (EHPT). Skanska Sweden's Commercial Buildings Division is also responsible for the latter project.
Work is to commence as soon as planning permission has been obtained and the hotel is scheduled to be completed in spring 2001.
