| PRESS RELEASE, JUNE 15, 1999 51/99 Skanska to construct new research center at world-reknowned children's hospital in Memphis for USD 99 M, SEK 840 M Skanska's Atlanta-based subsidiary Beers Construction Company has received the contract to construct a new research center at the St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, in the U.S. The order is valued at USD 99 M, approximately SEK 840 M. The research unit at St. Jude Children's Hospital is the world's largest and technically most advanced institution in the field of child illnesses. Research at the center focuses on children's cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The 17-story research center contains 38,000 sq. m. of laboratory, mechanical and office space and will be connected with the hospital's existing Danny Thomas Research Tower. A key element in winning the contract is the diligence and thoroughness of the Beers preconstruction services and the building team that developed a critical sequencing schedule. Beers is the largest healthcare builder in the Southern United States, with total sales of SEK 11.4 billion, approximately USD 1.4 billion. In addition, Beers has built more than 25 major laboratories and research facilities in the past five years.
