NEW SKANSKA OFFICE DEVELOPMENT IN RIGA

Skanska builds the first modern business center in Riga. The Valdemara Centre will cater for the growing number of local and international companies represented in Riga.

The project is a joint venture between the Riga City Council and Skanska International Building.

The building comprises 12,500 square meters gross area with office and retail space, and will pro-vide underground parking for 65 cars. Construction is performed by Skanskas local Latvian contrac-tor Skanska Konstrukcija SIA, and is expected to be completed in the spring 1999. The project value is USD 20 millions.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Swedish Export Credit Corporation (SEK) have arranged financing for the development, construction and operation of the Valdemara Centre. The project is the second undertaken by EBRD and SEK together with Skanska, following the successful Atrium Business Centre in Warsaw.

Other projects in Latvia include the Stockholm School of Economics, Astrides House and projects for OLW, Snickers, Aldaris, Swedwood and Klavins, Slardin & Loze.
