Skanska subsidiary, Baugh Enterprises will be constructing a new, three-story, 64,000 square foot student center for Seattle University in Washington state. The building will house the new Maguire Campus Ministry Center along with dining and meeting rooms. The construction of the student facility, along with the planned renovation of an adjacent 14,000 square foot residential hall, is budgeted at USD 32 million, approximately SEK 340 M.

May 31, 2001   Skanska to build student center for Seattle University – Contract valued at USD 32 M, approximately SEK 340 M Skanska subsidiary, Baugh Enterprises will be constructing a new, three-story, 64,000 square foot student center for Seattle University in Washington state. The building will house the new Maguire Campus Ministry Center along with dining and meeting rooms. The construction of the student facility, along with the planned renovation of an adjacent 14,000 square foot residential hall, is budgeted at USD 32 million, approximately SEK 340 M. Special features of the new student center will be a 20-foot fireplace and hearth, audio visual rooms, and a pedestrian sky-bridge. The design of the building incorporates eco-friendly components, as the school has a history of acting responsibly with regard to the environment. Seattle University is the only campus in Washington to be designated a backyard wildlife sanctuary by the state's Department of Wildlife. Selected by Seattle University as the contractor of choice, Baugh Enterprises began working with the school in 1985 and since then has built ten different buildings on campus. Baugh constructed the university's St. Ignatius Chapel, which has received international recognition for architectural design and world-class craftsmanship. Baugh also built the impressive Engineering Building, the Marguerite M. Casey Building, which houses the Liberal Arts department, and the Jesuit Residence Hall, containing a full commercial kitchen and chapel, as well as below-grade parking.
