SKANSKA PAVING THE WAY TO OLYMPIC GAMES IN SALT LAKE CITY
Skanska has been awarded a contract in the US valued at USD 10 million. Stabilator USA Inc., a Skanska Group company, has received a Letter of Intent signed by the Wasatch Construction consortium to stabilize parts of a 30-kilometer highway outside Salt Lake City.
The total contract amounts to USD 1.3 billion. It is the largest BOT (Build-Own-Transfer) project in highway construction in American history, with all work scheduled for completion before the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in the year 2002. Construction is expected to start in June this year.
The Wasatch Construction consortium has selected a new technique based on lime/cement columns introduced on the American market by Stabilator. The new technique was considered instrumental in Wasatch’s successful bid for the contract.
