Skanska to build new Swedish office property for Nokia for SEK 330 M

Skanska Building Construction is currently developing and will construct a modern 23,000 square-meter office property, the Helgafjäll 6 block, in the Stockholm suburb of Kista.

Skanska's contract is worth approximately SEK 330 M. The customer is Swedish real estate company Drott.

Drott has signed an agreement in principle with Nokia regarding a ten-year lease for two thirds of the office space in the Helgafjäll 6 block. Nokia also holds an option to lease the remaining one third of the property.

The opportunity to develop a new Swedish office property for Nokia at the Kista site was initiated by Skanska Project Development and Real Estate. The leasehold has subsequently been acquired by Drott.

"This is a project that illustrates our desire to maintain a front-line position in the development of modern office properties in growth areas," says Lennart Dalcke, regional director of Skanska Building Construction, Stockholm.

The City of Stockholm has already commenced work on a detailed development plan for the property. The development plan is expected to be ready in June 1999, following which construction work can be started. It is anticipated that the project will be completed during the second half of year 2000.
