Skanska builds for Scandic Hotels in Finland
Skanska's Finnish subsidiary, Skanska Oy, has secured the contract to design and build a new hotel in Helsinki. The Finnish insurance group Tapiola owns the building and will after finished construction work let it to the hotel chain Scandic Hotels. The total project is valued at USD 64 M (FIM 350 M).

Skanska's Finnish subsidiary, Skanska Oy, has secured the contract to design and build a new hotel in Helsinki. The Finnish insurance group Tapiola owns the building and will after finished construction work let it to the hotel chain Scandic Hotels. The total project is valued at USD 64 M (FIM 350 M).
With this contract, Scandic Hotels commences hotel operations under its own management in Helsinki. The new hotel, which is being built in the Simonsfältet (Simon's field) district of central Helsinki, will take up a total area of 21,000 square meters. The new complex will feature 375 hotel rooms, conference facilities, restaurants and boutiques.
Construction work is planned to start during spring 1998 and is expected to be concluded at the end of 1999.
