Skanska to construct office in Oslo for NOK 406 M, or SEK 460 M
Skanska has secured the assignment to construct a new head office in Oslo for the Norwegian insurance company Gjensidiges Forsikring. The contract amounts to NOK 406 M, or SEK 460 M, which will be included in second-quarter order bookings for 2011. The customer is the property company Rom Eiendom.
The project relates to an office building with eight floors above ground level and floor space of15,000 square meters. The building will feature a green profile, with the aim of achieving Energimerke B (an annual energy requirement below 126 kWh/sq m) under the Norwegian environmental certification system.
The project will be built on Schweigaardsgate close to the Oslo Opera House and Oslo Central Station.
Construction work will commence in the spring and the project is scheduled for completion in autumn 2013.
Skanska Norway focuses on construction and civil engineering operations. The unit has approximately 4,100 employees. In 2010, Skanska Norway reported revenue of about SEK 11 billion. In Norway, Skanska is also active in the development of homes, commercial properties and public-private partnerships (PPP) projects.
