Skanska to build office in Oslo for SEK 685 M

Skanska has been contracted to build a new headquarter in Oslo for the Aker Group. The contract, amounting to approximately NOK 600 M, about SEK 685 M, is included in order bookings for the third quarter.

The project involves a 55,000-square-meter office building in the Fornebu area outside Oslo. The building comprises eight stories, of which two and a half stories underground. Work has begun and the building is scheduled to be completed for occupancy in the fourth quarter of 2007.

Skanska Norway is active in the construction of commercial premises, housing and infrastructural facilities. The company is also focusing on developing operations in the Public Private Partnering (PPP) segment. A highway project, the E39 south of Trondheim and two school projects in Oslo are being carried out as PPP contracts.

The company is involved in the expansion of the Ormen Lange gas field with projects totaling NOK 1.85 billion and, among other projects, is also building  the Nya Akershus University Hospital for NOK 300 M and a sunken tunnel under the Bjørvika cove in Oslo for NOK 660 M.

Skanska Norway reported sales of SEK 8.6 billion in 2004. The company currently has 4,200 employees.
