SKANSKA’S REDEMPTION 1997 - TAXABLE ACQUISITION VALUE
In 1997, Skanska implemented a redemption of shares, for which the shareholder obtained a redemption right for each share. The redemption right could either be used for redemption or sold.
When calculating the capital gain on redeemed shares and sold redemption rights, the National Tax Board recommends that 2 percent of the redeemed share’s average acquisition value should be regarded as belonging to the redemption right. For example, if the average acquisition value of the redeemed shares is SEK 100, the share’s acquisition value will accordingly be SEK 98 and the redemption right’s acquisition value will be SEK 2.
Further information on the tax treatment of the redeemed shares and sold redemption rights has been provided in a letter to all shareholders in Skanska.
