Skanska is the design-builder on this fast-track project in a tight, urban location. This multi-phased, modernization and expansion of an existing Pre-K through 5 elementary school will alleviate overcrowding. The educational program includes cafeteria/kitchen, classrooms, science laboratories, art classrooms, media center, performing arts classrooms, and special academic programs.

Two new additions totaling 37,830-SF will be built onto the existing 20,000-SF facility built in 1931. Phase one consisted of modernization of the existing facility on a fast track, two and a half month schedule. Phase two includes construction of two additional steel framed buildings with an open atrium entrance connecting the additions to the existing structure. The additions include a new steel framed building, continuous footings and grade beam foundations; masonry and curtain façade; Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) HVAC Systems; new plumbing, electrical, fire alarm, security, low voltage systems and new site utilities. The building is being constructed with an open atrium entrance connecting the new additions to the existing facility.

Upon completion there will be extensive new landscaping with basketball court, outdoor learning range and stepped natural theatre seating. The atrium will include a skylight roof, natural green walls and exposed existing brick façade. Features of the green roof include a stormwater management system. When complete the building will seek LEED® Gold certification.
