14th and Everett
This $27 million project involved renovations and seismic upgrade to a 183,000-SF furniture distribution warehouse, originally built in 1922, into a premier mixed-use facility featuring state-of-the-art environmental systems. Skanska remodeled/renovated the four-floor structure to accommodate parking and office spaces, occupied by solar panel manufacturer Vestas. A fifth-floor penthouse office space was added, and includes roof gardens, solar panels and rain water harvesting. The project is LEED Platinum certified and listed on the National Historic Registry. Seismic components included new interior concrete shear walls, upgraded steel column connections and strengthened roof diaphragm.
