Skanska in partnership with Arcadis is a capital delivery partner for Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, with a contract which could run for up to 10 years.

Valued at an estimated £25 million a year to the partnership, it will run for an initial five years with a review at the end of the AMP6 (Asset Management Plan) period, which could lead to a five-year extension.

The Skanska/Arcadis team brings to the contract a collaborative approach that supports Welsh Water’s alliance model for the AMP6 period.

As a team, we provide collaboration skills and aligned values, which create the foundation for a successful working alliance. This is combined with our experience in the water sector and wider industries, from which we can transfer best practice.

Our focus is on delivering innovative and sustainable solutions that make a positive and lasting difference to Welsh Water customers. 

As part of the contract we are responsible for delivering a variety of projects from installing wind turbines to power water treatment works to upgrading dams and installing pipe. 

We are using some of the latest technology such as the fully immersive 360-degree BIM igloo, which reduces the amount of design work during the construction and handover period and allows the supply chain to get involved at an earlier stage. Drones are also used for surveying assets that are difficult to get to, which also reduces health and safety risks and also costs.
