Facilities management across the county

Our facilities management team works closely with Kent County Council (KCC) to maintain public buildings and facilities across 94 locations. These include offices, libraries, country parks, outdoor centres and children’s and youth centre, and in 2015, we were awarded a further contract, delivering statutory maintenance, reactive and small works for schools.

We provide total facilities management (TFM) services, including:

Hard FM (maintaining the fabric and assets of the buildings):

  • central helpdesk
  • health and safety compliance
  • asset management
  • planned mechanical and electrical maintenance
  • reactive mechanical and electrical repairs 24/7
  • fabric maintenance
  • management of the building management systems
  • statutory inspections

Soft FM (other facilities management services):

  • security
  • pest control
  • cleaning
  • waste management
  • grounds maintenance

Energy efficiency

We are helping KCC meet its environment policy and target of reducing energy usage across its building portfolio by 16 per cent by 2021.

Initiatives include:

  • energy awareness messages in all automated helpdesk emails
  • LED lighting surveys planned for the 10 sites consuming the most energy. An initial survey at Worrall House identified potential annual energy savings of around 112,000 kWh, equating to savings of £12,500 a year
  • programme of site visits to assess compliance with KCC’s heating and cooling policy
