Skanska is constructing The Copyright Building in the west end of London, a project valued at £45 million.

Designed by Piercy&Company, the 9,800sqm scheme will be a mixture of retail and office spaces. The ground floor will provide 1,850sqm of retail space on Berners Street in Fitzrovia. There will be 7,950sqm of fully fitted out category ‘A’ offices across seven floors, with two floors of roof terraces.

Environmentally sensitive

The team is targeting the BREEAM excellent environmental standard, using sustainable approaches throughout the construction phase and installing solar panels on the building’s green roof.

Our in-house team combines skills in design, construction, mechanical and electrical engineering and ceiling installation. We will install and commission chilled plasterboard ceilings - which are new to the UK - to all of the seven upper floors.

The chilled ceilings are innovative, energy efficient and replace traditional air conditioning systems. The working environment is also quieter because there are no fans.

Keeping it local

The site office is in the Fitzrovia Centre, a community centre close to the project. A team of Skanska volunteers helped to transform the centre’s front entrance and garden areas. They sanded and painted a wooden gazebo, created new planters, trimmed bushes and planted flowers.
