This $220 million, approximately 85-acre waterfront park spans 1.3 miles of Brooklyn’s East River. The park includes landscaped areas and ecological habitats; recreational facilities for sports such as soccer and basketball; a marina for recreational boating; protected waters for kayaking; and a limited amount of development essential to the park’s maintenance and operation that includes retail, restaurant, residential and hotel space. The site consisted of piers 1-6, which contained a mix of active warehouse and storage buildings, other vacant structures, parking areas and open space.
