  • Liberty Science Center Expansion Project

$69 million, 281,000-SF renovation and expansion of the existing science and technology center including the addition of 100,000-SF, retrofit of the existing 181,000-SF center and sitework and alterations to the existing parking lot. Expansion and renovation were executed simultaneously. Installation of exhibits commenced upon completion of the renovation. The volume of the existing center was optimized by converting large floor openings into exhibit space and relocating primary circulation between floors to the perimeter of the new south atrium to improve pedestrian flow. Food service facilities and retail space were expanded to improve guest services and parking areas were improved to handle large school and activity groups. The new center for science learning and teaching was added on the first floor.
