Carolina Bays Parkway
Skanska was awarded a $250 million contract by the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) to design and build a connector between State Route 9 and U.S. Route 501 in Horry County (Myrtle Beach).
The Carolina Bays Parkway runs parallel and west of the Intracoastal Waterway. The project involved 20 miles of limited-access divided highway with 29 bridges, including one over the Intracoastal Waterway.
Skanska worked in partnership with SCDOT to procure right-of-way for the project.
By using local contractors and suppliers, Skanska was able to speed work on the project and keep it within its 30-month schedule.
