Skanska was selected as the construction manager for the construction of a new middle school and new 2,300 station high school for the District School Board of Pasco County. The Charles S. Rushe Middle School was built concurrently with Sunlake High School on an 80-acre greenfield site in Pasco County. Extensive site work was performed before construction could begin and included bringing in 300,000 cubic yards of fill dirt to bring the site up to grade. Protected wetlands on site that needed to be preserved while construction occurred and several retention ponds were also built. The 225,000-SF high school consists of nine single-story buildings and the campus includes a full football field with bleachers and stadium lighting, baseball field, softball field, practice fields, tennis courts and basketball courts.
