Ocean City Longport Bridge Replacement
Skanska was awarded a $50 million contract, as part of a joint venture, to replace a toll bridge with a 65 foot high-level bridge in Longport, N.J.
The contract included the demolition of the existing bridge and construction of a fishing pier.
Skanska prepared the pile-driving rig for deployment to Ocean City, N.J. by improving the barge internally and externally to support a Manitowoc 4100 crane on a ringer. Skanska also placed steel and wood grillage on the deck of the barge to support the ringer.
The work was complex and intensive as the equipment and material arrived from all over the country. Skanska was flexible and adaptable in dealing with the changing requirements in order to complete the project.
