Our ethics journey

Skanska seeks to be a leader in ethics. We have been a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact since 2000. In 2004, we were one of the founders of the World Economic Forum Partnering Against Corruption Initiative.

We published our first Code of Conduct in 2002. It has evolved over the years, culminating in our current comprehensive guide.

The blueprint for our ethics work is contained in our Code of Conduct program. This is a management tool that sets out minimum requirements for each business unit to ensure Skanska’s values are consistently applied. An important part of this is assessing ethical risks and taking appropriate mitigation measures.

The ethical bar is getting higher all the time, and the risk of reputational or financial consequences arising from an ethical breach is real for Skanska and other multinational, listed companies. We cannot eliminate ethics risks but we endeavor to lessen and manage them. Most of all, we want to achieve and sustain a culture in which doing what is right comes naturally.

We are striving to stay ahead of the ever-rising ethical bar, and we want all our stakeholders to join us on this journey.
