About Skanska Safety Week
Skanska Safety Week is one of the world's biggest safety events and includes industry partners in several markets.
Safety Week dates back to 2005
Skanska Safety Week began in 2005 and is a part of Skanska's annual activities. It remains an important event because it provides an opportunity to emphasize the part that safety has in our values—Care for Life, Be Better Together, Work Ethically and Transparently.
Skanska is concerned about the well-being of everyone in the construction industry and does not limit itself to Skanska employees. Our contractors and suppliers are equally important to us.
A week of focused activities
Thousands of activities take place during Skanska Safety Week at construction jobsites, depots and offices across Skanska. Communicating safety not only to the Skanska employees but also our quarter of a million sub-contractors, partners and customers. This includes activities to increase awareness with various training, workshops, seminars with experts to raise knowledge and much more.
In recent years, Safety Week activities in several of our home markets have reached out to industry colleagues to make it a more inclusive event with competitors, suppliers and contractors, clients and designers taking part. Arranging Safety Week as an industry event impacts people working in construction even more. We continue to combine our Safety week activities with industry partners in the UK, Finland, USA and Poland.
Safety Week incorporates health and well-being
Health and Well-being focused activities highlights the importance of working with people's entire life, by avoiding impact from un-healthy working conditions. This includes physical health and well-being as well as mental well-being. We know that many more construction workers are impacted by long term health issues than from accident injuries. Stress and fatigue contribute to ill-health and accidents and it is time that we gave it the attention it deserves.
Everyone has a right to come home unharmed, every day.
We believe that everyone has the right to come home unharmed at the end of each work day and the annual Skanska Safety Week gives us an opportunity to remind ourselves more intensely on what is an everyday challenge.
