Skanska Safety Week 2018

To push forward on safety for the 14th consecutive year, Skanska is holding Safety Week April 23-29. During this week, our 40,000 employees at thousands of projects, along with more than 200,000 subcontractors, customers and other partners, took part in activities to heighten the focus on working safely. This year's theme was "Health and well-being".

Through our Care for Life value, we work safely or not at all. But safety extends beyond ensuring that people on our sites go home at the end of each workday in the same condition as they arrived. Safety also must encompass health and well-being, the 2018 theme of Skanska Safety Week, being held for the 14th consecutive year.

Every year in the construction industry, more people suffer long-term harm from work-related health issues – such as noise, dust and stress – than from work-related accidents. We take seriously the physical and mental health and well-being of our employees and those on our projects: We want people to be able to perform at their best, and live full lives. Guided by a Group-wide framework, each of our 13 Business Units is developing actions to advance employee health and well-being.

During Safety Week, we raise awareness about safety, health and well-being through trainings, health checks and other activities. Our aim is to help ourselves and our entire industry move ahead.

The 2018 Safety Week is the fifth year of industrywide activities in many of our home markets. We actively collaborate on safety with our customers, peers, partners because through safety, everyone succeeds.
