Examples of how we contribute

Collaborating to create healthier and safer cities
Given the high level of impact, buildings and cities need to be planned and developed in ways that contribute not just physical value, but social value too.

A winning combination to develop careers
Our award-winning 2+1 apprenticeship program in Finland helps students begin careers while enabling experienced workers pass on their knowledge.

Immersing a school into the world of construction
Strategy games, virtual reality, climate change and more comprised the curriculum when we immersed this entire school of engineering students into our world of construction and project development.

A vision of accessibility, becoming reality
Creating commercial and residential buildings that enable all people to thrive – here's how we're helping make that the industry standard in Central Europe.

A "culture house" for the homeless
Transforming an empty space into a "culture house" for the homeless and a public café. Every day, up to 400 homeless visitors stop by not just for a meal, but to read a book, take a lesson and much more. This is a story of how real estate development projects can benefit their communities in a new way.

From hardship to hope
Finding a job and establishing a career is a big challenge for anyone. But if you are a refugee in a foreign country, in a foreign cultural setting, your task is even greater. Ziad, Firas and Hamdi are in the process of taking this big step.

From mob to job
Five young men, who were earlier unemployed, have embarked on a new route through life in cooperation with Skanska Norway. After an introductory course, three are now on apprenticeships, one in full time employment and one is on BIM placement.

Learning by doing
The courtyard of Skanska’s new regional office in Malmö, Sweden, is not only open and accessible to the public. It also contains a sensory garden which can serve as an outdoor classroom for local schoolchildren.

Shelter from the storm
In Boston, MA, Y2Y Harvard Square is a soon-to-be opened student-run overnight shelter, providing a safe environment for young adults. Skanska provided time, resources and advice to make it happen.

Residents are job training while upgrading their Vivalla hood
When the Vivalla housing complex in Örebro in Central Sweden is being upgraded residents are given work or supervised work experience through Skanska and the subcontractors involved in the project.

Disadvantaged young people get a helping hand
Houses and bridges need solid foundations, the same could be said for people too. However, some are not as lucky as others, when it comes to having a fair start in life. But, with a little help, most people can flourish, grow and find personal and professional success.
