Skanska divests toll road Antofagasta in Chile for about SEK 400 M
Skanska has sold its investment in the PPP (Private Public Partnership) highway Autopistas de Antofagasta in Chile for about SEK 400 M. The buyer is Inversiones Infraestructura S.A., a Chilean private corporation owned by the Chilean public investment funds denominated Fondo de Inversión Público Penta Las Américas Infraestructura Dos and Fondo de Inversión Público Penta Las Américas Infraestructura Tres, managed by Penta Las Americas Administradora de Fondos de Inversión S.A., a Chilean investment fund manager. The transaction will be recorded by Skanska Infrastructure Development in the fourth quarter of 2014.
The Antofagasta highway runs through the Chilean mining district and has opened up Chile's mining region to greater commercialization with a much improved and safer route between mines and ports. The concession to design, construct, operate and maintain the toll road was won by Skanska in 2010 and the road opened to traffic in December 2012. After the divestment Skanska Infrastructure Development has no operations in Latin America.
