Tommy Bahama Corporate Headquarters, Tenant Interiors
As the first tenant in Skanska’s 400 Fairview mixed-use office building, Tommy Bahama fully aligned with its value of focusing on the user experience by relocating its corporate headquarters to the new 120,000-SF sustainable space. Skanska teamed with SkB Architects to design a flexible, open floor plan that represents the Tommy Bahama brand in a healthful environment to foster team interactions. Tommy Bahama is not your typical corporate office environment; it is a studio that captures the essence of brand and a place where the craft of clothing and lifestyle come together. This is achieved via ample natural daylight from a side-loaded core and outdoor accessibility on the building's fourth-floor deck overlooking South Lake Union. The project team reached schedule and budget goals and delivered a high-quality, tailored design that matches Tommy Bahama’s “Make Life One Long Weekend” credo and brand.
In addition to contemporary office space needs, non-traditional spaces such as showrooms and mock rooms were an important part of the program. These spaces are highly controllable, AV-rich interior environments. To ensure that those spaces also benefit from views and natural light, we installed flexible dividing glass walls and carefully zoned preset controls, allowing each of the technical spaces (showroom, mock store, and so on) to function independently or as part of the larger system.
