Smyth County Community Hospital and Medical Office Building

Skanska and ESa provided design-build services for this three-story replacement hospital for  Mountain States Health Alliance. This project consists of 53 beds, four operating rooms, 13-bay emergency department, imaging, medical office building, dietary and other hospital support areas.

Building information modeling (BIM) was used to create the design model for this project. The model was modified and improved upon as design and preconstruction progressed. The complete model has allowed for the coordination of all overhead mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems, ensuring quality control and clash detection prior to the start of construction.
